Nick Terry, an American Zen practitioner, certified Mindfulness Meditation teacher, Director of the Marfa Meditation Circle (in Marfa, Texas) and artist, will lead this workshop.

Founding and grounding meditation principles to settle your mind and body will be addressed in a welcoming, light-hearted, open discourse. Within and around meditation periods, many techniques to be applied to one’s daily life will be clearly explained, including various sitting options for meditation tailored for each individual, posture alignment, walking meditation, breathing, the value of stillness, how to truly relax and settle down, and how to work with thoughts and emotions. 

Complimenting and supporting these meditation teachings will be movement awareness and yoga sessions, led by Soraya of Sora Yoga, to further assist in applying meditation principles into our lives, throughout the day. Themes of using our senses, centering, focusing, slowing down and exploring the space within and around us, will be addressed during these healing and fun sessions.

This extended workshop will allow for deepening of one’s understanding and implementing of foundational meditation and movement awareness techniques, including one-on-one instructional meeting opportunities with the teachers. 

Note: This workshop will be conducted in English and is open to all levels.

12:00 – 4 PM Free time (Rest, enjoy pool, sauna, steam bath, forest walks)

Hi!

Here is some short note about me and what to expect when joining one of my retreats or yoga sessions.

I will guide you through gentle but strengthening yoga sessions with flowing movements and grounding, meditative elements. Along the way, the breath is our close companion to effortlessly bring our focus inwards and allow us to become calm.

Practicing yoga for me means re-connecting with my essence and discovering the space within and around me. I like the aspects of joy, humour, stillness and gratitude and like to weave these themes into my yoga.

I like to engage with cultures & philosophies from around the world. The more I discover, the less I know,…and the more I discover, even less I know, and.... :-) This inspires me to constantly explore and deepen what is there.

My first contact with Far Eastern philosophies (TCM, Ajurveda, Yoga, Taichi) I experienced as a child through my mother. What an enrichment! I remember how I was playfully allowed to join Tai Chi and was impressed by the fans and swords! Then I started playing around with the sun salutation before school.

In 2006 I deepened my yoga practice due to a knee injury in sports (i was passionately playing volleyball). In 2016 I received the yoga teacher certificate in Goa and since then I offer courses and retreats in Switzerland and abroad (e.g. Sardinia, Sri Lanka) with the label SORA. Since 2016 I have continuously attended courses (Bps: Yin Yoga, Hormonal Yoga, Pre- and Postnatal, TCM, Energy Medicine,..), which have refined and complemented my style.

I am particularly inspired by Tara Brach, Grumukh, Paul & Katharina Shepherd, Deepak Chopra and Sadhguru, Alberto Villoldo, Ina Hullmann & Veit Lindau to name a few…. and I am sooo grateful for the many more wise and uplifting people and friends that I am connected with and I can learn from.

SORA means SKY/ HEAVEN in Japanese and stands for clarity, your essence and your infinite potential.

Our sanctuary

Sutra Haus | Rütiring 36, 4125 Riehen (BS) | Switzerland

I invite you to a yoga experience in the quiet, beautiful Sutra House in Riehen surrounded by nature and forest (40 min. trip by public transport from Basel main station).

The grounding place offers space for an exclusive group and invites for individual processes, relaxation and connection to yourself and nature.

We will practice in a large yoga shala and a spacious meditation room and will have a library, salon with a fireplace and garden with pond and the Spa at our disposal.

The stylish rooms with private bathrooms are distributed in two buildings. Single rooms are available for a surcharge.
